Martorell, 14/10/2016. - The SEAT Ateca, which since June of this year has already opened the doors to different European markets, is among the 5 cars put forward for the prestigious AUTOBEST 2017 awards, one of Europe’s top prizes given by a panel of 31 specialised journalists each representing a different country.
AUTOBEST focuses on design, comfort, easy driving, value for money and commercial and service networks to choose the car with most points in its favour as the customers’ best purchase option.
The winning model will be announced in mid-December, following comparative tests and the final voting.
This recognition of the SEAT Ateca comes at an especially important time for the company. SEAT’s digital transformation coincides in time when SEAT is consolidating its financial results and getting ready for its biggest offensive of new models. Following the Ateca, SEAT is going to launch three new models in 2017 – the updated Leon, the fifth generation Ibiza and the new SEAT Arona crossover.
SEAT is progressing towards sustainable profitability and expects to close 2016 with profits. The company posted a half-yearly 2016 operating profit of 93 million euros, which is 77% more than the same period in 2015.
In addition, sales are increasing for the fourth year in a row, with 312,900 vehicles delivered until September.
SEAT Ateca: A true compact and sporty SUV
The Ateca’s nomination as one of 2016’s best all-rounders pushes the Spanish brand’s first SUV one step beyond its excellent customer acceptance with orders already exceeding 30.000 cars.
The Euro NCAP safety tests awarded it five stars for its excellent design, versatility and performance last June, with brilliant results in all sections despite the increased number and stringency of the tests, which particularly earmarked adult occupant and child protection, without forgetting pedestrians and driving assistance systems.
SEAT Ateca comes with a wide range of options, a choice of petrol turbo (TSI) or diesel turbo (TDI) power packs from 115 HP to 190 HP, front or four wheel drive, and manual shift or DSG. Customers can choose from the Full LED headlights to a variety of assistance systems, such as the innovative Traffic Jam Assist and new Emergency Assist, as well as a package of state-of-the-art infotainment systems with 8” touch screen and Full Link connectivity. XCELLENCE is added at the top of the range of SEAT’s usual finishes to satisfy the brand’s most discerning customers.
